Neuropsychological testing is the assessment of brain-based functioning. Just like an MRI or CT scan of the brain evaluates structural integrity, neurocognitive metrics assessed via pencil and paper or on a computer can reliably and accurately examine the underlying function subsumed by these neuroanatomical areas.

Domains assessed include: learning, memory, language, attentional and executive abilities, visuospatial skills, and motor abilities.
